Zack Snyder seems to want to shock the audience with his darker version of Jared Leto’s Joker. We had already seen some previews where the Clown of Crime looks less like a tattooed and more cruel rocker, and, on Monday (22), the director showed a controversial image that shows the character dressed as Jesus Christ.
The photo has the same production as the material previously presented, also in black and white and with an outfit that looks like a medical suit. This time, Leto appears adorned with a crown of thorns, with his arms outstretched, clearly making a reference to the religious figure – it is worth mentioning that Snyder himself also touched on this subject in Man of Steel, when Superman was also approached as an analogy to Jesus Christ.
According to Snyder, the version of the Joker that we will see in his Justice League will not be the same as Suicide squad; but the one in which he appears on an Earth decimated and ruled by Darkseid, in the nightmare / prophecy experienced by Batman. “It’s the Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s what I also felt that fans deserved from the DC Universe. So Jared Leto’s Joker and Ben Affleck’s Batman never really met. It didn’t seem cool to me that we had made it all the way through these incarnations of the two characters without being able to see them together, ”he said in a recent interview.
Producer recommends watching the long film “in parts”
Initially, some rumors said that WarnerMedia had plans to launch Snyder’s new cut in a four-part series, with an hour in each episode on HBO Max. Subsequently, the director himself confirmed that the attraction will be four hours long, as a full movie on the streaming platform.
However, Deborah Snyder, his wife and producer, appeared on the LightCast podcast over the weekend and recommended that fans watch the content “in parts”, as if it were a series. “I’ll give you a hint on how to watch it. I know a lot of fans will want to watch it directly. But it also has chapters. And what HBO Max can do is that there will be a timeline at the bottom, where there will be small markings, because each part has a title. And it’s a kind of thematic division, ”he said.
Deborah said that this type of markup is one of the great advantages of streaming, especially when she herself spends hours “marathon” some attraction “. “Sometimes, if Zack and I are watching something and I fall asleep while he watches, I ask ‘where did I stop?’. But if you want to go back and try to remember, they [as plataformas] make it a lot easier for you, because the small markings on the timeline in each chapter help. ” That is, these divisions in Snyder’s film can be a good time to take that break to go to the bathroom or even doze to see the rest later.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Ray Porter as Darkseid, Ciarán Hinds as Steppe Wolf, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon. The film hits HBO Max on March 18.
